More cards . . .

I made a couple more cards using the Warm Wishes Crafty Courtyard kit from Pink and Main, plus a few more using leftover Cricut cuts and leftover card fronts that I started and never finished.  Here they are.  I don’t have much to say about them, but I thought I’d show them before I put […]

BIG UPDATE – Cricut Listened to YOU & Will Not Be Limiting Uploads!

Important news for crafters and Cricut users everywhere! ⚠ UPDATE 🚨 – We have great news for those of you who own a Cricut machine! After receiving feedback on their proposed Design Space changes, Cricut has made an update to the way they’ll manage image uploads. Changes will still be coming to Cricut’s Design Space, however current Cricut accounts with a cutting machine linked to their account before December 31, 2021 will continue to be allowed unlimited image uploads for the lifetime of their machine. Don’t already have a registered account? You’ll have until December 31st, 2021 to create one and link your machine to lock in those unlimited uploads. They have not yet released their plans for unlimited uploads for machines sold (new or used) after December 31st, but they do plan to continue to explore affordable ways to allow an unlimited number of personal image and pattern uploads. Their plans also look like they hope to include special accommodations for educators even after the deadline. For more details, head here. We are impressed with Cricut’s quick response to their community! What are your thoughts? FYI, this info we wrote about earlier today below is now expired.  If you own a Cricut machine, you know that preparing a project requires using premade patterns or uploading original designs to the company’s Design Space application. Soon, the capabilities of your device may be limited by an impending update to Cricut’s Design Space software. In the past, Cricut users have been able to upload an unlimited number of designs to the Design Space application for free. The upcoming software update (which is set to occur on an unspecified date) will limit Cricut users to just 20 free Design Space uploads per calendar month. Since projects can often require multiple uploads to complete, even casual crafters will probably reach this limit rather quickly each month. Unused uploads will not roll over to the next month, and deleting an upload you changed your mind about will not free up more uploads for you to use. If Cricut users find that they need more than 20 free uploads per month, they will have to subscribe to Cricut’s Access Standard plan for $9.99 per month (or $95.88 per year), or the Access Premium plan for $118.88 per year. Cricut users will still be able to access any of their designs that were previously uploaded to Design Space, but if you want to create anything new, there’s no getting around the use of the Design Space software. Obviously, Cricut users are not happy about these changes. When they spent anywhere from $179 to $399 for their cutting machine (not to mention all of the additional tools and materials needed for different projects), it was with the understanding that they would have unlimited uploads to use with the Design Studio software. Now the company is planning to limit the capabilities of its machines after the fact, requiring users to pay a monthly or annual fee to restore the full functionality of a product they already own. Cricut says that it will start prompting users to subscribe in Design Space between now and the time that the upload limit goes into effect. Although they haven’t revealed exactly when this change will take place, it’s expected to happen in the next few weeks. If you’d like to join your fellow Cricut users in protesting the company’s decision, you add your name to a petition here.

Cricut Decides to Charge Rent for People to Fully Use the Cutting Machines They Already Own

In our community we like to think of ourselves as pioneers in the field of domestic CNC machinery, with our cheap 3D printers. But there’s another set of people who were way ahead of us, and they’re a rather unexpected one, too. Crafters were using CNC cutting machines well before we were, and while some may deride them when used for sparkly greeting cards sold on Etsy, they can be an extremely useful tool for much more than that. Probably the best known brand of cutter comes from Cricut, and that company has dropped a bombshell in the form of an update to the web-based design software that leaves their now very annoyed users with a monthly upload limit of 20 new designs unless they sign up for a Cricut Access Plan that costs $9.99 on monthly payments. Worse still, a screenshot is circulating online purporting to be from a communication with a Cricut employee attempting to clarify  matters, in which it is suggested that machines sold as second-hand will be bricked by the company. UPDATE: Hackaday was contacted by a PR company claiming to represent Cricut. They clarified that machines are not deactivated upon resale, but the new owner will need to set up their own online account. UPDATE #2 (3/21/21): In the wake of this controversy, Cricut have announced that they will not move forward with the upload limit for customers who are not paying subscribers. Also, soon we will be making changes that affect members who use the free Design Space app without a Cricut Access plan. Every calendar month, these members will be allowed to upload up to 20 personal images and/or patterns. Members with a paid Cricut Access plan will have unlimited uploads. We’d like to think that given the reaction from their online community the subscription plan will backfire, but unlike the world of 3D printing their market is not necessarily an online-savvy one. A crafter who buys a Cricut from a bricks-and-mortar warehouse store and uses it with Cricut cartridges may not balk at being required to pay rent to use hardware that’s already paid for in the same way a member of our community with a 3D printer would. After all, Cricut have always tried to make their software a walled garden. However if the stories about second-hand models being bricked turn out to bear fruit that might be a different matter. There are of course plenty of alternative CNC cutting machines (The favourite in ones that have made it here seems to be the Silhouette Cameo) that don’t come with this type of baggage, and the online Cricut community are busily raising their profile in the wake of this news. Probably because of their restricted functionality there have been very few hacks here using a Cricut machine, but all of this leaves us wondering whether the machines themselves could be exploited to take less restrictive firmware. Please make this pain go away

Been well over a month. My right arm and shoulder hurt. Its a deep nerve like pain. Can’t barely use it. I drop things when I use my right arm. Thats my dominate hand. I have had carpal tunnel surgery back when I was about 24. Few years ago I fell at work on a wet floor due to a leaky tank on a toilet. I hit my elbow first fell backwards. Then my tailbone then head. I snapped my neck pretty good.

I have fibromyalgia and other things .. I have had scans of my neck and shoulder spine. They showed ostioarthrities in my neck and spine and hips.

Also have chrons , ibs and have ringing in my head half deaf.

I want to say I am trying ANYTHING to make this pain go away.
I dont like pills they make me sick . Even the over the counter motrin, Advil makes my acid reflux worse. Nausea and vomiting dizzy.

I have been using every over the counter motrin, Advil , alleve. You name I have tried it. Every cream, gel, spray. Ben gay, icy hot multiple essential oils. Epsom salt bathes. Heating pad ice packs.

I have been using my TENS and EMS massage therapy unit. It had alot of modes.

I have rested the shoulder and arm in sling. I have been using it. Stretches . I try yoga and meditation and ti chi I think It is called.

I dont know what else to try. Go to Dr and they do nothing. Ugh.

Its insane that dr withhold pain meds. Its torture. Its un nessary to make someone that’s in excruciating pain be in pain.

When the Dr’s and hospitals have shit they can do for the pain.
I understand why people with chronic diseases with constant pain kill themselves. I am soooo done.

If your not rich with insurance you suffer. Dr dont help. Tell you to take motrin. Lol. Obviously they have never had real pain.

Some of my many symptoms I have.

I am back to drinking alot of water , peeing alot. Tired. Nausea and vomiting wikd dizzy. Losing hair. Have trouble swallowing. I cough all the tine but don’t smoke. Pain all over in every joint , muscle and bones . I go from diarrhea to cant poop for weeks. Losing my teeth. No memory I lose my thought mid sentence . Always cold till I shiver. Can be 100 or 30 degrees dont matter. Legs and arms go numb tingly. Dont sleep. Can’t eat. Skin in dry and blotchy.

Sorry for that. I have no one to talk to. I stay in alot. I am pretty much homeless off and on.

I know this isn’t all in my head. Something is going on seriously messed up.

I am in my 40′ s shouldnt feel 60

At a crossroads

I am going out of my mind. This pain is getting worse and I am loosing the use of my arm. It’s not easy to get to see the dr now so I am trying everything I can do myself.

The pain is in my bicep area and front of shoulder. It’s is an excruciating burning, stabbing pain
When I use my right arm. Hurts to even pick up my arm enough to wash my underarm. To the point I cry. Try to reach over my head. Omg I just about pass out.

Forget trying to brush hair , teeth . Washing my hair is fun. Even going pee sucks. I can’t do the most basic things.

Trying to figure it out so I can fix it.

I have fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis in my neck tp my tailbone. I also have ibs, acid reflux, nausea lots of crap . The chronic pain is the worst. All the time. Insomnia does not help things.

I have been using my tens , ems unit. Also heating pad. Many creams and lotions. Over the counter meds do nothing. I take warm Epsom salt bathes. Also use essential oils.

I am going to start taking joint pain supplements. Been reading up on them. Also vitamins and minerals, herbs. I do try to stretch it and move it , which sucks. Maybe yoga. I just want it to get better.

Please I am looking for insight on how to treat this. What have you tried ? You can message me anytime too. I have come to a cross roads.
